Working as a Team

While admission to our program often results from difficult circumstances, our staff go above and beyond to ensure that clients and their families feel welcome from the very beginning of the treatment process. A staff member will personally welcome you and your child to Oakview, and provide a tour of the facility to help you both feel more comfortable. We will then take you through the intake process, fully familiarizing you with the program rules and treatment guidelines. From there, our team will work with you every step of the way to provide the best possible care for your child.

Our clients participate in a wide variety of therapeutic and educational groups, in addition to receiving regular individual check-ins with their program-appointed therapist, dietician, psychiatrist, and pediatrician. Additionally, you may be asked to participate in family therapy sessions and educational groups to ensure that you remain an active part of the treatment process; after all, the ultimate goal is to equip both you and your child with the necessary tools to continue the recovery process at home.

An Open Door

There is no doubt that caring for a child who is struggling with an eating disorder can be a trying task. It is often difficult to know what to say, or how to approach situations involving food. Parents are always encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding their child’s care. In turn, our staff will make every effort to maintain open, consistent communication with you throughout the treatment process. We know how vital it is to create a united front in working toward recovery, and we are here to be a
resource to both you and your child throughout their stay at Oakview.

Strengthening the Family System

When a child is living with an eating disorder, it is very common to experience disconnect within the family. Our clinicians recognize the importance of tackling the challenges of an eating disorder from all sides, and tending to the family dynamic is a key part of that process. Our family therapy sessions and multi-family education groups serve to provide you with valuable guidance and support to bring you and your family together in the healing process.
