Treatment Modalities

Our philosophy is grounded in providing client-centered, life-affirming treatment services in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. We believe that each client’s treatment should be based on their specific needs, unique qualities and effective holistic therapeutic strategies. To this end, our clients are each provided an individualized treatment plan based on current, evidence-based therapeutic modalities. Our approach is affirming, positive and aimed at empowering each client to realize
their inner strength, and develop effective coping and social skills such that they can live productive lives in line with their core values.

Comprehensive, Evidence-Based Care

Our team uses a variety of treatment modalities to fully address the eating disorders we treat. Each client participates in multiple group therapy sessions each day, in addition to individual and family-based therapy sessions with their appointed therapist. We utilize the current leading edge, evidence-based treatments for Eating Disorders. These include, but are not limited to Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Based Therapy (FBT).

Collaborative Nutritional Care

In addition to more traditional therapy, another vital element of treating eating disorders is managing clients’ relationship with food and meals. All clients regularly meet with our Registered Dietician to determine an individualized plan to meet their nutritional needs. Our house chef and dietician work closely together to provide a variety of nutritious meals and snacks for our clients.

Individual Medical Care

Our psychiatrist, Dr. Fooks, also meets with clients twice weekly to evaluate any psychiatric symptoms and provide medication management where appropriate. Additionally, our facility pediatrician conducts regular medical consults on-site to monitor and advise upon clients’ medical needs. On top of all of these traditional treatment elements, our clients are also given the opportunity to participate in light yoga to strengthen mindfulness and connection to the body.

Community Meal Support

While each client has a unique meal plan tailored to their individual needs, all clients participate in community meals at the table together with staff supervision. Meal times are a fundamentally challenging yet crucial piece of eating disorder treatment; as such, our dedicated staff is always there at the table to help support clients through the process. Staff members are there to supervise and gently correct any disordered eating behaviors, along with helping coach clients through the difficulties that meals can bring up. Over time, the goal is to normalize meal times for clients and to provide them with the tools they need to begin to cultivate a healthier relationship with food.
